Targhee Sheep were originally developed in 1926 at the Dubois Idaho U.S. Sheep Experiment by crossing 1/2 Rambouillet with 1/4 Lincoln and 1/4 Corriedale. Targhee Sheep are a duel purpose breed. They have extremely high lambing rates and high lamb weaning weights while still producing good wool averaging 10-14 Lbs. per year and  maintaining USDA wool grades as high as 64 staple length 3-5″.Targhee ewes range in size from 140 to 200 Lbs adult weight, with rams ranging from 200 to 300 Lbs.
